Teenager dies after blowing up ticket machine in Germany
A teenager has died after blowing up a train ticket machine in Germany, police have said.
The incident happened in the eastern city of Halle and the 19-year-old man was found in a pool of blood at around 10pm on Saturday.
After being discovered by a train driver he was rushed to hospital but died around 90 minutes later, according to local reports.
He had reportedly been thrown three metres, around 10 feet, by the blast.
Halle police spokesman Ralf Karlstedt said he had been attempting to break into the machine with two others, aged 15 and 20.
Mr Karlstedt said the ticket machine was "completely destroyed" in the explosion and that the dead manâs alleged accomplices have been arrested following the incident.
Police said they are investigating whether the suspects were also involved in the destruction of six other ticket machines and an ATM in Halle earlier this month.
The Südstadt station was closed for a number of hours as police investigated the scene.
According to Deutsche Bahn, a German railway company, some 250 of its machines were broken into in 2017.Source: Google News Germany | Netizen 24 Germany
